2010 Indiana High School Football Season
Conference realignments: Three schools have shifted conference affiliations since last year.
- For football only, Southern Wells dropped out of the Allen County Athletic Conference. The Raiders, which will compete as an independent for football, will remain in the league for all other sports.
- Eastern Hancock, after playing one year as an independent, will join the Mid-Indiana Football Conference this fall.
- Speedway left the West Central Conference to join the Indiana Crossroads Conference.
School closings: Four schools which fielded teams in 2009 will not do so this fall. Two schools closed, while the other two dropped their gridiron program.
- Fort Wayne Elmhurst closed, leaving the Summit Athletic Conference with nine members.
- The Indianapolis Public School system ended football programs at Manual and Washington high schools, leaving the IPS with five football-playing schools.
- Anderson Highland consolidated with Anderson High School, leaving the Olympic Conference with three members.
New football teams: While there are several closings, there are several schools that are throwing their hat into the Indiana football mix.
- Boone Grove will play their first varsity game in school history.
- Silver Creek will play their first varsity game since 1942.
- Monroe Central will play their first full year of varsity competition.
