TURN BACK BICKNELL
ELKHART HIGH SCHOOL ELEVEN NOW LAYS CLAIM TO STATE TITLE.
Elkhart, Ind., Dec. 1.—Turning back the Bicknell team that travelled from Knox county to dispute
the Indiana High school title with the Elkhart eleven on a snowy field here Saturday, the local team
won, twenty-eight to six.
Elkhart, as a result of its victory, claims the unofficial Indiana title. The
team was undefeated, and its goal line was crossed but twice, once by Mishawaka
and once by Bicknell. Its season's total was four hundred fourteen to thirteen
for the nine teams it played.
Captain McCrary, Bicknell, made his team's only points when he crossed the line after the ball had
been carried nearly the length of the field by a teammate as the result of an intercepted pass.
Three of Elkhart's touchdowns were made by Quarterback Brannan. Captain Peterson made one
touchdown and drop-kicked a field goal for Elkhart.
Four thousand fans saw the game. The players were greatly handicapped by the slippery field
from which three inches of snow had been cleared before the game.
